YACHT CHARTER ITINERARY

Sail to Fiji

Warm seas, volcanic silhouettes, and clean horizons.

About This Itinerary

4 Days in Fiji

This itinerary starts at Port Denarau Marina, one of Fiji’s main gateways for cruising the west coast island groups. The first half stays close to the Mamanucas, using Musket Cove as a comfortable base with services and an established yachting scene. Mid trip, you shift gears with a longer run into the Yasawas. Waya sits in the southern Yasawa chain and rises sharply from the sea, with its highest point listed at 571 m, giving the day a very different feel from the lower Mamanuca profiles.

Day 1 - Port Denarau to Musket Cove

12 NM

Depart Port Denarau and settle into the first afternoon quickly, Musket Cove is close enough that you can arrive early and still have the best hours left. Musket Cove Yacht Club and Marina is known for sheltered moorings, marina berths, and on shore facilities that make the first day straightforward. If your timing aligns, note that Musket Cove hosts Fiji Regatta Week, which gives the area a long-standing sailing culture beyond resort traffic. Swim off the yacht in the late afternoon, then step ashore for a simple drink or dinner before returning on board.

Day 2 - Musket Cove to Cloud 9 and Monuriki

18 NM

Start with a short run to Cloud 9, a two level floating platform set on Ro Ro Reef, with a bar and wood fired pizza, an easy mid morning stop when you want something social without committing the whole day to shore. After lunch, continue to Monuriki, widely known as the filming location for Cast Away, and use the afternoon for swimming and a tender lap along the island’s beach and rocky points. Anchor for the night with the island as your backdrop, keeping dinner on board.

Day 3 - Monuriki to Waya Island

50 NM

Today is the longest passage, and it is worth departing early for a comfortable ride north. Waya sits in the southern Yasawa Islands and is noted for its steep terrain, with its highest point listed at 571 m, which becomes obvious on approach as the island rises fast from the sea. Plan the afternoon around simple, high payoff activities: a beach landing, a short hike to a lookout, and a swim before the evening breeze drops. If you want an easy shore option, Waya Island Resort sits on the island and can be used as a reference point for local access and day arrangements.

Day 4 - Waya Island to Port Denarau

65 NM

Return south toward Viti Levu and aim for Port Denarau by mid to late afternoon. Port Denarau functions as a primary marina hub for the region, which makes it a clean finish for refueling, provisioning, and disembarkation. If time allows before docking, pause for a final short swim stop in the lee of the outer islands.
